“Mostly PLASTIC, Almost REAL...SilverHawks!”
Ok, so Super7 has now spilled the beans and on his January 31, 2021 interview, Brian Flynn let's us know SILVERHAWKS ARE INDEED COMING!!! Details are still slim, and we have soooo many questions, but for now we'll let our curiosity work in your favor and throw together our top line up of who we'd like to see make it into the toy waves. Super 7 has been knocking it out of the park by way of both articulation and selection depth, and we know whoever they decide we'll be thrilled about, just the same we can't help ourselves, so here we go! (and yes, we'll refrain from diving into our selection for the TigerSharks line we assume isn't too far down the road too...however, we only do so because we have that list already being drafted as another article as we speak).
Join us now, for SpeekyGeeky's "Top Super7 Silverhawks Figures We Want ASAP":
1. YES-MAN
For starters, let's dive into some main antagonists we've never seen in toy form before. Super 7 consistently gives 110% of attention to their toys, so who better than them to give us the figures we always wanted in the way that we ACTUALLY wanted to get them.
Yes-man seems the perfect candidate for this with his sleek yet conniving demeanor, with a tail that could be either fully pose-able rubber or articulated to expand the coil effect (or both), we have every faith in Super7 to do the character absolute justice.
2. POKER-FACE
My P-P-Poker Face, M-My Poker Face! Moving right along the route of "Never before made figures", Poker Face tops our list for characters we always wanted, always thought would make for cool toys, and now we can't wait to see how well this can be done.
With multiple heads to signify his various slot-based moods and that ever classic and snazzy attire, we know we'll hit the jackpot!
3. MELODIA
A Melodia figure announcement would be like music to our ears. Are you starting to notice a trend here? Yup, Melodia is another of those awesome antagonists who never got her shot in the world of plastic.
Our past loss is our future gain however, considering how very different the actual toys made off the series characters turned out in the original line.
The fact that Melodia never made the original line up means we now don't have anything super off the wall different to compare this character to and can just revel in the goodness that will be a reflection of her cartoon appearance brought to amazing life.
4. ZERO THE MEMORY THIEF
Seriously, Zero looks like he walked right off the set of Thundercats, stepped onto a rocket ship and headed right to Silverhawks.
Considering Super7 is already doing some pretty bang-up Thundercats figures, it isn't a far leap that they would more than do ol' Zero the sculpt he deserves after all these years, complete with movable chest tapes, bendable rat-like tail, and a wand that connects a translucent circle array to give the appearance as if he is stealing foes memories.
5. BUZZ-SAW
FINALLY! A character on this list that isn't of one that hasn't had a previous toy...but as far as we are concerned, will be the first Buzz Saw that may actually appear as he did in the show.
We're not sure where they got the paint scheme for the original toy Buzz-Saw, but while the cartoon version of him was a mix of gold and brown, the toy depicted him as green, yellow, and black.
Now we finally have a chance to add the serrated sycophant onto our shelves the way he was intended, towering, pointy, and shiny.
6. TIMESTOPPER
Not only the youngest of Mon*Star's goons, but also a tie for most amazing 80's hair with Melodia.
Timestopper looks like a distant great great grandchild of Pixar's "The Incredibles" villain Syndrome (or grandfather depending on when Rankin-Bass history officially takes place, it's...complicated...but ultimately doesn't matter because it's also very different franchises).
The way Timestopper's powers worked, is that he had a digital clock on his chest that once activated, would essentially turn anyone and anything in his vicinity immobile (think X-men's movie Quicksilver...not to be confused with Silverhawk's Quicksilver).
Throw in a non-articulated statue of one of the Silverhawk's, jet pack (with fire streaks that double as a booster stand), and some swappable number plates for his chest and we got ourselves one Overpowered Timestopper figure that we can display proudly.
7. MON*STAR (Pre-Transformation & Post)
Okay, nerd out time!
In the past, the only version we got of this titular character was one who could change from one head to another, but shared the same general buck.
Super7 has already shown us with both pre and post transformation Mumra however that this absolutely does not need to be the case in present day, nor should it.
They have set the bar incredibly high with what to expect, and we have no doubt Mon*Star will be every bit as awesome as we assume he will be (both of him).
8. MO-LEC-U-LAR
Mo-lec-u-lar's design is just so utterly cool and is just begging to have his toy done right. In addition to having multiple free floating molecules that could swirl around him, it would be fun to have additional items packaged with him that he had transformed into within the series, like a box of cigars or an additional mid-transformation public officer head.
Mo-lec-u-lar is already a character where there is just so much potential for it to be an awesome with his animated design, but Super7 is exactly the right company to make sure all those little touches are given to the fan collectors.
9. DARKBIRD
Darkbird is essentially to Silverhawk's leader Quicksilver as Bizarro is to Superman. He looks and talks like him which ends up getting his good-guy counterpart into some predictably hot water. Eventually Quicksilver and Darkbird are seen together which quickly clears up any lingering confusion to the mystery of why Quicksilver had suddenly been acting weird and sporting vampire teeth.
You know...normal "must have needed a Snickers bar" type behavior??
Any-who...Darkbird seems a natural foil to have in our collection and could even be as easy to get in the line as an additional head sculpt that comes with Quicksilver. Easy way to sell two instead of one. Boom!
10. BOUNTY HUNTER
Ok fine so his name leaves something to be desired and feels like the whole character was something of a post-it note placeholder until a better name and personality could be created for it, and maaaaybeee someone just threw away that memo, but credit where credit is due, ahem...Bounty Hunter...has got some sweet designs going on here.
Not sure if they were going for something that seemed like it stepped directly out of an episode of Filmation's "Masters Of The Universe" cartoon, but the end result certainly feels at the very least inspired by the question "what if Beast Man and Grizzlor somehow had a less hairy offspring", and we couldn't be happier for it.
11. ZEEK & SEYMOUR
Zeek & Seymour aren't who most people typically think of when the name Silverhawks is brought up, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be. Even though these two characters don't have snazzy exosuits like the 'Hawks they do manage to be in quite a few episodes providing the ever elusive space transportation and comic relief. If we are looking at the Super 7 line as an opportunity to bring previously overlooked supporting characters into the toy-fold, these two absolutely meet that criteria.
Not that we need further fuel for wanting to see this goofy duo made, but just Imagine if they were released as a convention exclusive along with the Space Cab!!! Laugh at us all you'd like, but the idea of loading up various space-faring toys like Howard the Duck or Predator as backseat passengers and the ensuing conversations that would take place...priceless!
12. MUMBO JUMBO
Four words is really all we need for this dude: Rampaging Minotaur in Space!!
